(WXYZ) — For countless families, when COVID-19 invaded, it literally wiped life as they knew completely away.

Now, thousands of people are jobless, homeless and hungry.

Thank, there are people and organizations committed to helping others pick up the pieces every day. Places like Lighthouse of Michigan.

But because of the pandemic, there is much more work to do and more people in need of a helping hand.

Our Andrea Isom met with a mother and son, who are experiencing first-hand, how Lighthouse is making a difference.

Lighthouse cannot continue doing the life-changing work they do, without help from all of us.

You can help by making a monetary donation, volunteering your time, perhaps adopting a Lighthouse family for the holidays, or by dancing the night away, this Saturday!

It is the 12th Annual Dancing with the Detroit Stars Charity Event! It is virtual this year.

So, the dancing and the dinner will be brought to you, but every single dollar will still go to help those in need.

There are so many ways, you can get involved to help Lighthouse continue its commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. Just visit lighthousemi.org.
