A local fraternity is doing everything they can to make sure hundreds of needy families have a great Thanksgiving.
The Kappa Alpha Psi Southfield Alumni Chapter was out at Foodland grocery store off of 8 Mile in Southfield collecting money for the cause Sunday afternoon.
The men have carried on the tradition for more than 20 years.
They plan on collecting donations there, almost every weekend until November 14th.
On Saturday, November 23rd, they will be distributing turkeys and other Thanksgiving fixings to families at New Hope Missionary Baptist church at 23455 W. 9 Mile Road near Telegraph.
"It's just awesome just to see the expression on their faces when the get that," said fraternity brother Randy Scott. "Even here at Foodland we have run into some families that are in need and we write their names down and just to see them light up like, you're going to do that for me? There are even some families who do not have transportation so we actually deliver those baskets to them."
The Kappas have supplied more than 300 needy families with Thanksgiving dinners every year.
This year the fraternity's goal is to raise enough money to feed 400 families.
