LANSING (WXYZ) - Wayne County CEO Robert Ficano is tied for last among five candidates considering a run for the county's top job, according to a survey released today.

The survey, conducted by Target Insyght, shows that if the election were held today, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing would garner 20% of the vote, followed by state Rep. Phil Cavanagh at 15% and Wayne County Commissioner Kevin McNamara at 12%. Ficano is tied for last with little-known Westland Mayor William Wild. They would each take 11% of the county's votes.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 4.5%

"This is a strong signal," said Target Insyght's Ed Sarpolus. "Bob Ficano is going to have to decide quickly what he's going to do to turn around his image and the county's."

According to the survey,  70% of those polled had an unfavorable view of the two-term County CEO, while only  23% had a favorable view of him. 7% had no opinion.

56% of those surveyed said Wayne County was headed in the wrong direction, while only 10% felt it was moving in a positive trend.  34% were undecided.

Ficano has not formally announced if he will seek re-election, but sources indicate the CEO will run again.
