WAYNE, Mi (WXYZ) — The person who killed a 48-year-old man from the city of Wayne wanted to get rid of his body by dumping the pickup truck, where the victim's body was in the rear, into Belleville Lake. The truck was abandoned when it got stuck.

Sunday morning, someone spotted the pickup truck on Quirk Road near Belleville Road and the victim's body was located in the back of it.

Van Buren Township Police notified Michigan State Police to investigate because it seemed clear that the homicide took place at another location.

Police believe the man was killed on the 4400 block of S. John Hix and as MSP investigators were processing that scene Sunday, they said they were able to identify the suspect and take him into custody.

Police will not indicate if the suspect is a blood relative of the victim or how they may be related. The would only say the homicide is domestic in nature.

Late Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said they had not yet received a warrant request from police on the case.

If the suspect is charged, an arraignment could take place as early as Tuesday.
