(WXYZ) — Detroit Metropolitan Airport will soon add another European destination, as Lufthansa announced it will begin flights from DTW to Munich next year.
According to the company, the expansion to Detroit is part of a larger plan to expand tourist-oriented long-haul programs from its hubs in Munich and Frankfurt.
The nonstop flights will begin on May 4, 2020, and the airliner will fly to DTW from Munich on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The flight from Germany will depart at 12:40 p.m. and land at 3:45 p.m. local time. The return flight will then take off at 5:35 p.m. local time and arrive in Munich at 7:45 a.m. the next morning.
Those flights will take place on the Airbus A350-900, and are now available for booking.
