Lunch programs to continue for students in Wayne County

School is out for summer, but lunch programs are set to continue throughout Wayne County.

Students up to age 18 are eligible. The program is available in school districts where half of the students receive free or reduced meals during the school year.

Cold lunches are served Monday-Friday for two hours each day. Those meals include a sandwich, fruit, juice and a cookie.

The program is meant to help low income families who rely on these lunches during the school year.

This is the 32nd year Wayne County has provided free summer lunches to students.

Detroit Public Schools runs their own summer food service program.
