A 59-year-old man was arraigned Friday after Macomb County deputies caught him communicating with a 14-year-old for "sexual purposes."

The Macomb Area Computer Enforcement (MACE) unit was alerted to Billy Goldsmith messaging a social media profile he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

Goldsmith reached out to the teen requesting to "hook up." MACE deputies controlled the profile while Goldsmith continued to make inappropriate sexual conversation, despite being reminded of the age difference.

Deputies say Goldsmith sent images of male genitalia and asked to meet the teen for "sexual purposes."

The undercover MACE officers gave Goldsmith an address to meet in Harrison Township.

On Thursday, July 26, Goldsmith arrived at the location, was immediately taken into custody and placed in Macomb County Jail. The County Prosecutor's Office issued him several counts including child sexually abusive activity and computer-internet-communicating with another to commit a crime.

Goldsmith was given a $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on August 8.
