Macomb County is in urgent need of support for its Meals on Wheels initiative.

Leaders have asked for assistance with its general volunteer program and for a special one-time delivery on Dec. 1 where 130 people are needed.

On Dec. 1, the agency will pack and deliver boxes of shelf-stable meals for times when unsafe weather or other emergency circumstances prevent the normal delivery of hot meals to Macomb County seniors.

Volunteers are needed to help pack or deliver food boxes between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Macomb County warehouse. If delivering meals, personal vehicles must be used and people should allow about two hours for the task.

In addition to the 130 volunteers needed for the special delivery, MOW is sending out a call for help to Macomb County residents and businesses asking them to consider being a volunteer for the program at large.

Meals are delivered Monday through Friday to more than 1,800 seniors throughout Macomb County.

Volunteers are needed to ensure all participants receive their meals and that they are delivered in a timely manner. Delivery routes are available in several areas and volunteers can deliver as many times a week as they like.

All volunteers must be at least 18 or be accompanied by a parent or legal adult. All volunteers will be required to pass a background check.

To volunteer, contact Macomb Community Action Office of Senior Services at 586-469-5228 or fill out the registration form here.
