The man accused of murdering four of his children and stepchildren, and shooting their mother at a home in Dearborn Heights on Wednesday has been arraigned.
Gregory Vincente Green, 49, is facing a number of charges, including four counts of first degree murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and one count of torture.
His probable cause hearing is scheduled for October 5 and he is being held without bond.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, "There is nothing that better illustrates the silence of violence than this case. A confluence of events led to the deaths of four beautiful children. The alleged evidence in this case will show an appalling level of domestic violence that was cataclysmic. We must push the issue of domestic violence back to the forefront and be constantly educated about it.”
The children, ages 4 to 19, were killed Wednesday in a brutal attack inside their Dearborn Heights home. Their mother, identified as Faith Green, is currently recovering at a nearby hospital. She's listed in fair condition.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay funeral costs.
Sources tell us Gregory Green went on a rampage, fueled by his belief that his wife was cheating on him.
We've learned he forced her to watch as he shot and killed his two step-children, 17-year-old Kara Allen and 19-year-old Chadney Allen, execution style in the basement. Police say he killed their two youngest daughters, 4-year-old Kaleigh Green and 6-year-old Koi Green, by putting them inside a car and manipulating the tail pipe to fill the vehicle with exhaust fumes.
Chadney Allen Sr., the father of the two teens who were murdered, said he didn't know anything was wrong.
"They didn't give me any red flags," said Allen Sr.
Kiersten Wilcher, a friend of Kara Allen, says she would spend time at another friend's house, scared of what her stepfather would do. Wilcher told us, "domestic violence is real."
Gregory Green does have a violent past. In 1991, Green served time in prison after pleading no contest to killing his then wife, Tonya Clayton, who was six months pregnant with their first child.
Her other children were unharmed that day. Family members say when Green stabbed Tonya to death, one of her children ran and hid in the closet.
The Dearborn Heights murders have rocked the metro Detroit community. A memorial of flowers and teddy bears for the young lives lost continues to grow on the front steps of the house.
As the details of the crime come out, the hours of agony spent inside this home are still incomprehensible.
"Pray for the children, the mother, give her the strength to carry on and try to get through her life," said Melissa Wencel whose children attended the same school as some of the victims.
Meanwhile, Pye Funeral Home in Detroit has come forward to donate caskets and their services to the family.
A vigil for the victims is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at Polk Elementary School at the intersection of Annapolis and Hipp.
