Man accused of spitting on pizza at Comerica Park tests negative for infectious diseases

The man accused of spitting on pizza dough while working at a concession stand in Comerica Park tested negative for infectious diseases.

Jaylon Kurley, 20, of Roseville, allegedly spat on a pizza and covered his saliva with pizza sauce. The incident was captured on video and reported to police by the head of security at Comerica Park.

He was arrested on Sept. 23.

Kerley has been charged with one count of Food Law Violations, MCL 289.5107(2), a four-year felony, and one count of Food Law Violations, MCL 289.5107(1), a 90-day misdemeanor.

He was required to submit himself for disease testing as a condition of his bond. The test results show that he tested negative for any sexually transmitted diseases, HIV and any type of Hepatitis. 

“The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office has been inundated with phone calls from the public since our announcement of charges in this case - specifically inquiring a whether the defendant has certain infectious diseases. We understand that concern and facilitated the expedited testing of the defendant. He in turn waived his privacy rights for us to release this information," said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
