Man arrested in murder of girlfriend at Southfield apartment complex

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — A man has been arrested and charged in the murder of his girlfriend at a Southfield apartment complex, police say.

Markia Leggett was murdered on March 22 at Pine Aire Apartments in Southfield. Leggett was pronounced dead at the scene when officers arrived.

After being identified as a person of interest, Adrian Deshawn Hill was arrested in Detroit on March 26. He was arraigned on March 27.

Hill has been charged with:

  • Homicide – Murder 1st Degree Premeditated
  • Weapons – Felony Firearm Second Offense
  • Weapons – Firearms – Possesssion by Felon
  • Weapons – Felony Firearm Second Offense

“I would like to thank and commend Mark Jankowski, Acting United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Michigan and the members of the United States Marshals Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team for their dedication and tireless efforts to seek justice for the family of Ms. Leggett," Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren said. "This partnership is a great example of how federal and local law enforcement agencies can effectively work together to apprehend violent fugitives.”
