Man carjacked, shot while delivering groceries to Royal Oak home

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — Royal Oak police say a man delivering groceries was carjacked and shot on Tuesday night.

According to police, they responded to a carjacking and shooting in the 700 block of S. Gainsborough, between Lincoln Ave. and 4th St. east of downtown, around 9:30 p.m.

The victim told police he was approached by two men who demanded his keys, wallet and cell phone. The victim complied, police say, but was shot in the leg as he ran away.

Both suspects allegedly fled in his vehicle, a gray 2007 Toyota Camry with license plate. 5MPN71.

One suspect is described as a Black male, 5-feet-11, 160 pounds, while the second suspect is described as a Black male, 5-feet-10, 190 pounds, both believed to be in their early 20s.

Police say the suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
