Harper Woods police say they have arrested a man who is believed to be involved in at least 20 break-ins throughout the city and Detroit on Thursday morning.
According to police, a resident returned to his home around 1:20 a.m. Thursday and found a suspicious man standing near his home. He lost sight of the man and called 911.
Officers arrived on scene within the minute and found his rear window forced open and multiple items moved inside the home.
After searching the home, they found the suspect, identified as 54-year-old David Brown from Detroit, hiding in a storage room in the basement.
He was arrested and taken to the Harper Woods Department of Public Safety. Brown was charged with second degree home invasions and fourth degree habitual offender.
After investigating, police linked Brown to at least seven business burglaries in Harper Woods over the past few months. They expect him to face more charges in those break-ins.
They also contacted Detroit police who believe he is responsible for more than a dozen business break-ins. They will also be seeking charges for those crimes.
