TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 19-year-old man was arrested for using three children to sell candy at Fogo De Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in Troy, allegedly paying the kids for their work and then keeping the profits.

Davion Mitchell, of Detroit, and the children ages 9, 10 and 10were at the steakhouse on Aug. 10 around 10 p.m. They agreed to leave after management confronted them, but the 19-year-old went to the restroom in the steakhouse first. Mitchell was in the stall when an employee noticed suspicious activity, while the three children waited outside the stall.

A hostess' purse was found in the stall of the restroom after Mitchell left the bathroom and ran across West Big Beaver Road. About $40 was missing from the purse.

The three boys admitted that they do not really play football, despite telling customers. They said the money they raised went to Mitchell, who paid them to sell candy for him.

Police found Mitchell in the same area and arrested him.

Mitchell previously visited another business in the Troy area on two occasions while attempting to sell candy with children. After being asked to leave, he became irate. He is being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and lareny in a building.
