ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — Royal Oak Police say a person of interest is in custody after two people were intentionally hit by a car early Saturday morning.

Around 1:53 a.m., officers were flagged down about a "disorderly group" outside a nightclub located in the area of Fifth and Main Street.

Police discovered two people had been hit by a vehicle. Paramedics arrived shortly and took the victims to Beaumont Hospital. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation determined a fight broke out between two groups earlier in the basement of Jolly Pumpkin on Main Street. Security removed the two groups from the club, and a man from one of the groups got into a gold or tan Buick Rendezvous.

Witnesses say the driver appeared to intentionally hit a female victim, turn, and then hit a male victim. Police say the driver struck two signs and a parked car before backing over the male victim.

The driver then sped off from the scene.

On Sunday morning, police confirmed that the person of interest was in custody and they were speaking with him to get more information.
