RIVER ROUGE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to a homicide at a home in River Rouge.

On Oct. 27 around 10 p.m., River Rouge officers responded to the 100 block of Catherine for a well-being check. At the scene, officers located a woman's body inside the home. Police were able to identify the 36-year-old woman.

The officers were able to determine that the home was rented out by a man identified as Efrain Medina. Shortly after, investigators learned the 36-year-old woman had been reported missing out of Indiana and that she was last seen in Medina's company.

According to police, Medina immediately became a person of interest leading officers to track him to his job for questioning. But the officers were denied access into the facility, Medina was alerted to the police presence and was able to escape the building undetected, according to River Rouge police.

The woman's death was ruled a homicide by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office and a warrant request was approved by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s office for Medina’s arrest, police say.

Both the victim and Medina resided in Indiana. Police say Medina is known to have ties to Illinois and Mexico. They believed Medina may have fled to either of these locations.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Medina is asked to contact the River Rouge Criminal Investigations Section at (313) 297-0001 or the River Rouge Public Safety Dispatch at (313) 842-8700. Tips will remain anonymous.
