DETROIT (WXYZ) — Wayne County prosecutors have charged two people in connection to an incident with a Detroit cab driver that led to a barricaded gunman situation on the city's east side.

Deandre Hayes, 33, was charged with felonious assault and felony firearm and Danyell Harris, 28, with one misdemeanor count of false pretenses less than $200.

On Jan. 26, a 64-year-old male cab driver dropped Harris off to a home on the 7100 block of Varjo. Harris exited the cab to allegedly go inside and get the $11 cab fare. The driver waited for several minutes and honked his horn, but Harris did not return with the fare.

It is alleged that Hayes then exited the home with a shotgun pointed at the driver. The cab driver drove off from the home and called police. When officers arrived Hayes refused to come out of the home, which led to the barricaded gunman situation, police say.

A special response team was called to the scene. Members were able to enter the house and arrest both Harris and Hayes.

After the arraignment, Hayes received $10,000/10% bond, while Harris is due back in court on Feb. 15.
