Medics advise Ann Arbor Art Fair visitors to stay hydrated

ANN ARBOR (WXYZ) - The Ann Arbor Art Fair is a great place to explore and find beautiful works of art from around the world. But the Michigan tradition can also be a challenge for some when it comes to the heat.
Medic teams from Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA) are patrolling the fair on bikes equipped with everything they would normally have at their fingertips in their usual emergency vehicle.
"Take shade and water when you need it," says Mike Long, an HVA medic, who emphasizes the importance of people staying hydrated.
While people are allowed to bring their dogs to the art fair, animal care experts strongly advise against it because of the high temperatures.
Kelly Schwartz from the Humane Society of Huron Valley tells 7 Action News that the pads of a dog's paws can burn on the hot pavement.
Schwartz urges people to leave their pets at home. "They'll love you for it," says Schwartz.
