While installing a generator in Hazel Park, a metro Detroit electrician made an unlikely friend.

Max Kinney, a worker for Oak Electric Service based in Waterford Township, was installing a generator at a home on Sunday when a small bird flew near where he was working.

The electrician attempted to guide the bird safely away from the area, but it wasn't an easy task.

In the video Kinney shared with 7 Action News, he's seen gently guiding the bird on the back of his hand to help it fly away. Surprisingly, when the bird takes flight, it quickly turns around and lands on Kinney's head.

The bird must have felt pretty comfortable with the electrician, enough to stay awhile. Kinney is heard saying in the video, "This is a really odd weekend" as his new friend is perched atop his head.
