Imam Hassan Qazwini of the Islamic Institute of America is on a mission to promote peace and awareness. He's hoping to educate people from various backgrounds and communities, about his religion and customs.

He has big plans for his newly opened institute located on Ford Rd. in Dearborn Heights.

Imam Qazwini wants to use social media to promote monthly classes for non-muslims. The classes will begin in September. He's also planning to produce videos through a new media department. The videos will work to provide further information and dispel misconceptions about Islam.

Also, there are plans to start a seminary at the institute, where future religious leaders can be trained without having to spend years in the Middle East.

Imam Qazwini tells us his goal is for the next generation of Imams to be more aware of American culture, customs and language.
