A metro Detroit man convicted of raping a flight attendant near Detroit Metro Airport was sentenced to at least 35 years in prison.

Dwuan Parkman was found guilty of first degree criminal sexual conduct and home invasion last month.

The victim pleaded with the judge to lock him up for a long time.

"I have waited one year, three months and fifteen days to see justice served to Dwuan Parkman," she said.

The victim said she dreamed of being a flight attendant.

"Today, if you were to ask me what I want to do with my life, I'm not sure that I'd have the answer," she said.

He was convicted of attacking the flight attendant inside her Romulus hotel room in June 2016. Prosecutors believe Parkman spotted her having dinner with her co-workers at an area restaurant and followed her into her room.

"He spent a few hours watching me at a local restaurant and decided I was a suitable target," the victim said. "The next thing I know, I woke up and this man was on top of me."

"This was the moment Dwuan Parkman became a part of my life; when he took off my pants and took off my underwear and he raped me while I was sleeping."

Parkman says he is innocent and feels sorry for the victim but states that there is evidence the victim was coached to pick him as the suspect.

The judge saw past that, sentencing him to 35 years for sexual assault and 20-30 years for the home invasion.
