ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — A teen who spent the first several months of her life a Beaumont Hospital is giving back from the heart.

Natalie Pyciak, 13, donated 20 handmade quilts for babies in the NICU. The Royal Oak Middle School student spent 50 hours sewing every stitch.

Pyciak wanted to share a little comfort with families experiencing what hers did after she was born premature at 26 weeks.

The teen's Blankets for Babies project will earn her the Girl Scouts' silver award to go along with her heart of gold.
