Three local mothers say they are outraged and appalled after a teen, who they say sexually assaulted their daughters, received a sentence that would have him released in 45 days.

7 Action News is not identifying any of the girls in this case. We are also not naming the defendant because he was charged as a juvenile.

"This kid is a predator. He is not a kid. He was a 14-year-old that made man decisions," says the mother of one of the victims.

There were originally 31 felonies against the Brighton Twp. teen, but he pled guilty to six of them in a plea agreement.

The girls' mothers say they were stunned by the fact that he received a sentence of 45 days in a juvenile detention facility, not the long term lockdown resident sex offender treatment that prosecutors wanted.

"I was upset because I felt like the court failed our daughters, failed him and the community," said one mother.

When it all started in February 2016, two of the girls were 12 and one was 13. The defendant was 14.

"He manipulated them verbally, mentally, emotionally.. he took advantage of their weaknesses as far as their vulnerable age," says another mother.

They say all three girls have been diagnosed with PTSD, but their mothers say they're all supporting one another and staying strong.

Action News reached out to the Brighton Township teen's attorney, but did not get a call back.

The Livingston Co. Prosecutor says he is also shocked and disappointed by the 45 day sentence. He has filed a motion to have it reviewed.
