A man who crashed into Debra Craig's 89-year-old mother's house may have taken distracted driving to a whole new level and it ended badly.

"It was like a bomb went off or something," said Craig who talked to 7 Action News just feet away from the area of her mother's porch that was destroyed when the driver, who had been speeding in reverse, slammed into the house and Craig's car that was parked alongside of it.

It happened the night of Halloween in the area of Dexter and Davison on Detroit's west side.

And after the crash, a neighbor saw the driver grab a plate of food he had in the car with him and take off on foot.

But he made the mistake of leaving his cell phone behind and police reportedly found it on and opened to Facebook.

According to someone who was at the scene when it happened, it seems the driver may have been trying to post a video of himself speeding in reverse when he lost control and crashed.

It's unclear if Detroit Police have been able to identify the driver, but Craig is hoping the owner of the car has insurance so she can get her mother's porch fixed.

"Totally and utterly insane," said Craig.
