Michigan reports 8,058 new COVID-19 cases, 79 additional deaths

(WXYZ) — Michigan reported Friday 8,058 new confirmed COVID cases and 79 additional deaths over a two-day period. That averages out to 4,029 cases per day.

The state reports that 42 deaths were identified during a Vital Records review. The reporting covers Thursday and Friday and this is the first time in weeks the daily average has topped 4,000.

Last week, Michigan surpassed more than 1 million confirmed cases.

The total number of cases in Michigan now stands at 1,030,633 and death total is at 21,077.

Michigan reports coronavirus numbers on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as the surge in cases continues.
