Michigan State Police director speaks for first time on anthem controversy

Michigan State Police Director Kriste Etue responded to the recent controversy over her stance about NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem.

Etue shared a post on her Facebook page that called NFL players protesting the national anthem "ingrates" and "degenerates."

When asked if she regretting using the words "ingrates" and "degenerates" to refer to football players, she said, "I've apologized. I made a mistake and I've apologized." 

After asking if she was rejecting the calls for her resignation, Etue said, "I'm not going to resign."
