Michigan State Police are searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run crash in Hazel Park on Saturday.

According to a series of tweets from MSP, the crash occurred at 4:20 a.m. on northbound I-75 near Myers Road.

A 26-year-old man was standing next to a motorcycle, bent over examining the vehicle with his back to the fog line on the right shoulder, police say. That's when an unknown vehicle, described as a black Pontiac Grand Prix, hit the victim and fled the scene.

The suspect vehicle is believed to have damage to the front wheel well. The front wheel flare from the vehicle broke off, landing next to the victim during the crash.

The victim was transported to the hospital where doctors say he will require multiple surgeries.

Anyone with information on the incident, or knows of a vehicle with front end damage and is black in color is asked to contact MSP's Metro North Post at 248-584-5740.
