Michigan State Police execute search warrant at Macomb Co. Prosecutor's Office

(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police raided the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office in downtown Mt. Clemens Wednesday morning.

MSP confirmed the Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant in connection with the state police investigation into off-the-books forfeiture funds held by the prosecutor.

The investigation was opened a few weeks ago.

The Prosecutor's Office previously said in a statement that it will "cooperate fully with the investigation."

Macomb County’s Office of Corporation Counsel was informed today that the Michigan State Police, First District Special Investigation Section, has opened a criminal investigation into the Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office use of forfeiture funds. As a result, no further comments will be made by Macomb County. Any questions regarding the investigation should be directed to the State of Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Macomb County will cooperate fully with the investigation.
