A Michigan State Trooper died Wednesday morning as a result of injuries sustained in an on-duty motorcycle crash in Plainfield Township.

Timothy O'Neill, 28, was on patrol on his department motorcycle when he was involved in a crash near the intersection of Wolverine Boulevard and Belding Road.

There were no other injuries, and the crash is under investigation.

"It is with a very heavy heart that I confirm the death of one of our own, Tpr. Timothy O'Neill," MSP Director Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue said. "I ask that you please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead."

O'Neill enlisted with the MSP in 2017 and served at the Rockford Post his entire career.

He is survived by his mother, father, brother, sister and fiance. He was set to be married on Oct. 7.
