SEBEWAING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Tuscola County Sheriff's Department says a missing Michigan State student who called 911 for help Tuesday has been found dead in a river.

Sheriff Hanson said told media that search crews found 21-year-old Parker Haire Wednesday morning in waist-deep water in the Sebewaing River.

According to the department, Haire called 911 Tuesday around 7 a.m. saying he was cold, wet and could see a factory. Operators lost contact with Haire but were able to secure his location. Responding crews searched the area but could not find him.

The search was stopped at nightfall, and resumed Wednesday morning.

Authorities say a Michigan Sugar Company employee reported Haire's car stuck in mud near their treatment pond's fence.

Deputies say Haire attended a nearby New Year's Eve party but are not sure how he became lost.

According to authorities, Haire is believed to be deceased.
