Missing Redford Township man found dead in Washtenaw County home, grow operation

LODI TWP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 57-year-old man was arrested after fatally shooting a missing Redford Township man and keeping him in his home and business in Lodi Township.

The mother of the man, who had been missing since Tuesday, went looking for her son in his last known location on Wednesday around 8 p.m. in the 4000 block of Waters Road. That is when she approached the property on Waters Road and was shot at by the suspect, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office. Deputies arrived on scene and arrested the suspect, later identified as 57-year-old Kent Charles Hyne.

The missing man, 27-year-old Kyle Luark, was found shot to death on the property, authorities said.

According to authorities, Hyne claimed he was defending himself as part of the fatal shooting.

Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office also confimed with 7 Action News the property Luark was found at is also a marijuana grow operation, which is owned by Hyne.

Hyne was arraigned Sunday on charges of Concealing the Death of an Individual, and Disinternment and Mutilation of a Dead Body. He is currently at the Washtenaw County Jail.
