Monroe Deputies: Man dead after being hit twice by vehicles on I-75

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal car versus pedestrian crash that happened Thursday on northbound I-75 in Berlin Township.

Deputies say around 10:30 p.m., a 45-year-old female driver was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer in the northbound center lane of I-75, when she hit a 64-year-old Garden City man.

The man was reportedly walking across the northbound traffic lanes after his vehicle broke down along the roadway.

The victim was then hit again by a 42-year-old man driving a 2017 Ford Explorer.

Medics pronounced the 64-year-old victim dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.

Both drivers were not injured in the crash, police say.
