(WXYZ) — If you were upset with the snow in metro Detroit overnight, it could be worse. Parts of the Upper Peninsula could get more than a foot of snow by the end of the day on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service's Marquette station, lake effect snow will be moderate to heavy in the central U.P.

Through Thursday night, 8-12 inches are expected in a range from Munising to northwest of Manistique. There's a smaller area in between those two cities that could see 12-16 inches.

Lows will be from 8-23 degrees with highs from just 22-32 degrees.
