Is that selfie #nofilter?

New data is shedding light on our photo editing habits and how it affects the way we look at the internet.

According to a recent survey released by photo app company Truepic, nearly two-thirds of Americans who post photos online say they have shared an edited version of a picture.

The most common reason reported: improving the quality of the photo overall.

But sometimes it’s all about the ego.

When it comes to the biggest offenders of the picture-perfect, but not-so-authentic images, 29 percent of millennials admitted to posting edited photos to feel better about themselves.

Now, because of this photo editing phenomenon, the survey also revealed that we’ve become distrustful of certain websites.

According to the data, a whopping 93 percent of us are suspect of online images.

The sites we trust the least when it comes to false snapshots: dating websites, weight loss or fitness sites and of course, social media.

The survey collected the responses from more than 2,000 adults in the U.S. in March of 2017.
