Detroit's Most Wanted Captured: Anthony Gilchrist allegedly robbed women near Corktown

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Another Detroit's Most Wanted is off the street. Anthony Gilchrist was a man with a gun, chasing two women right outside Michigan Central Station in Corktown. He stole their purses and then used their credit cards, as police are cracking down on crime in the area.

He's now in police custody, captured thanks to a viewer tip and the assistance of Crimestoppers of Michigan, the United States Marshalls Sevices and Michigan Department of Corrections officers.

The robbery was all caught on camera, and police now need your help finding Anthony Gilchrist. The women were at Mercury Bar on Nov. 8. As they walked to their minivan, a black car pulled up and Gilchrist jumped out.

"As he runs around chasing the woman, you see him cock and load the weapon, so he's inserting a round in the chamber of the weapon as he's chasing these girls," U.S. Marshals Deputy Aaron Garcia said.

The two women dropped their purses and he took off with them. Police say Gilchrist and an unidentified man were also caught using the cards at a nearby gas station.

"Gilchrist is wanted for a parole violation, original charges of breaking in, stealing, home invasion," Garcia said. "He was put on parole for stealing multiple weapons at the time."

Now, the Marshals have teamed up with the Michigan Department of Corrections to find him and send him back.

"He lives in the Detroit area and the last contact we had with hi, he called his probation area saying he was staying in the Flint, Michigan area," Special Deputy Chad Johnson said.

Gilchrist is 28 years old, 5-feet-9, 300 pounds. Marshals believed he was still in the metro Detroit area.

There was a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of Anthony Gilchrist, the unidentified man, or any of Detroit's Most Wanted.
