A fugitive labeled a dangerous killer is wanted by the U.S. Marshals for a shooting in August.

That victim died just this week upping the long list of charges against Matthew Chappell, Jr. making him this week’s Detroit’s Most Wanted.

The Marshals warn Chappell is out to kill, always armed and ready to fight.  They fear when this Shelby Township resident will strike again.

“This guys no stranger to law enforcement, he has a criminal history, he also has multiple warrants one of them is for a $7,500 domestic violence, he’s also wanted by the Dearborn police department as he took off on the cops for fleeing and eluding to evade arrest,” Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Aaron Garcia said.

Police say Matthew Chappell Jr.’s latest violent crime happened on august 16th and was all caught on camera.

“There’s a verbal altercation that ensues between our victim and our fugitive,” Garcia said.

It was only seconds before the killer took things to a whole other level here on 8 mile between this strip club and gas station.

“You see him pull out the handgun from his waistband, it’s an extended magazine clip, he shoots him multiple times right in the abdomen, the victim falls and he leaves him to die,” Garcia said.

Police say Chappell’s friends who witness the crime all take off as the victim is left on the ground.  He died just this week after spending more than a month on life support.

Surveillance images from inside the strip club show them all together, just before the murder.

“What kind of friends, what kind of people, what kind of human beings would just watch somebody get shot and leave? That tells you the kind of people he’s also hanging around with,” Garcia said.

“If someone has an extended magazine they’re ready to do some business, they want more ammo in their gun for one reason or another,” Garcia said.

Matthew Jessee Chappell, Jr. is 26-years-old, he’s 5 foot 9 and145 pounds with several tattoos.   He was last known to be living at 21 Mile Rd and Schoenherr in Shelby Township and is believed to be trying to change his identity.

“He had braids, dreadlocks, since he became a fugitive we have information he may have cut those off,” Garcia said.

There is a cash reward for any information leading to Chappell’s arrest. Call the U.S. Marshals anytime at (313) 234-5656 and remember you can remain anonymous.
