LIVONIA, Mich. (WXYZ) — The mother of a 3-month-old girl who was found unresponsive in a Livonia home in June has been charged. This comes a week after the father of the infant was charged in the child's death.

Kimberly Marie Davidson, 40, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse. She turned herself in to police Tuesday and was arraigned and given a $20,000 bond with 10 percent.

Prosecutors filed charges against the child's father, Allen James Abel, 46, earlier in December. Abel is currently serving three to five years at Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility, where he's been since September, for driving while intoxicated.

The 3-month-old girl was found unresponsive at a home in the 19300 block of Rensellor on June 17. First responders arrived on the scene and transported the infant to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, it's believed that the parents of the child created an unsafe sleep environment, which resulted in the death of the girl.

Abel also faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse.

Davidson is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 26, while Abel is expected to be video arraigned on Dec. 18.
