DETROIT — The Detroit Police Department has released information on a man wanted for the murder of a mother who was gunned down in front of her children at a Detroit park.

RELATED STORY: Mother of 7 murdered at Rouge Park trying to rush children to safety

Francesca Marks, the mother of seven children, was killed Saturday at Rouge Park after two men got into a physical fight over a basketball game.

"It's a park where people should be able to come and enjoy themselves with their families, not come and get killed," said Sherri Scott, Marks mother.

Police said the suspect left the park in a 2017-2018 black Mercedes and then returned a short time later with a gun. He began firing, striking one people, and killing Marks.

A 28-year-old man suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound. Francesca was shot and killed while trying to rush her children, nieces and nephews to safety.

The shooter fled the park in a silver Dodge Charger 392. He is described as a black male, with a dark complexion, in his 20s, 6’0”, shoulder-length dreadlocks and was wearing a gray t-short and shorts at the time of the shooting.

Police have not provided photos or a sketch of the suspect.

He’s expected to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police at 313-596-2260 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
