From that first distressful message over the phone to the words from the doctor at the hospital, it's a day Constance Williams-Spann says she relives in her head over and over again.

For the last five years, the mother says she’s tried to make sense of what happened the night of July 4, 2013, when her son, Justin, a 24-year-old college graduate and mental health assistant, was inexplicably shot dead – all of it while simply watching a fireworks show in Diack Park with his little sister.

Was it intentional or the result of celebratory gunfire? This family doesn't know.

But what they do know is the pain of losing a son, brother, and friend gone much too soon.

So today, instead of spending the holiday together at a BBQ, this family, still wearing red, white and blue, spent the day together at the site of a memorial, releasing balloons in Justin's memory.

Five years on, the pain is still real, while the demand and plea for justice, simply grows louder.

"Potentially 200 that saw it happen," Williams-Spann said. "If I can’t get 200, can I get 50? Can I get anyone to speak up?"
