GROSSE ILE TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) — The Grosse Ile Police Department is warning residents that the scam where fake money with the words "motion picture" printed on them have been passed around the area, according to a Facebook post.

Police say a Grosse Ile resident received the fraudulent $100 bill and turned it over to the department. Downriver residents have been duped by the fake bills when selling items on social media websites, police say.
"Please be diligent and careful when exchanging money, especially with strangers," police said.
