DETROIT (WXYZ) — While conducting an investigation into a crash involving an undercover trooper vehicle in Detroit, Michigan State Police have acknowledged that the vehicle the trooper was driving did go through a stop sign prior to the crash.
The incident happened July 3.

MSP posted to Twitter Monday that after reviewing the black box from the undercover vehicle and security video provided by a homeowner in the area, it shows that the officer failed to stop at the sign before entering the intersection.

A civilian, who appeared to have the right of way, entered the intersection and collided with the trooper's vehicle. The civilian and trooper were both injured and taken to local hospitals. The officer involved is currently on medical leave.
Police say over the weekend, personnel met with the family of the civilian involved and updated them on the investigation.
The crash and the conduct of the officer involved are still under investigation.
