LANSING, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Muskegon County man had a lucky lunch when he won half a million playing the Michigan Lottery's Triple 7's instant game.

"I went to get a sandwich and had a few extra bucks left, so I bought two instant tickets," said the 62-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous. "I won $10 on the first ticket and thought that was pretty great. When I scratched the second ticket, I couldn't believe my eyes."

"I called my girlfriend and asked her to come see me right away. She told me to scan the ticket in the store, and that is when I realized I wasn't dreaming. I jumped about 10 feet in the air on my way out the door! Since then, about every 10 minutes I've thought to myself: 'Did this really happen to me?'"

The player bought his winning ticket at the Speedway gas station at 6582 Grand Haven Road in Muskegon.

The 62-year-old visited Lottery headquarters recently to claim the big prize. With his winnings, he plans to buy a new vehicle, a vintage speedboat then save the remainder.

"Winning provides me with the opportunity to retire sooner and alleviates the unknown," the player said.

Players have won more than $27 million playing Triple 7's, which launched in April 2019. Each $5 ticket offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. More than $2 million in prizes remain, including one $500,000 top prize and nine $1,000 prizes.
