Former Senator John Kerry to be sworn in as Secretary of State in private ceremony today

(WXYZ) - Former Senator John Kerry will take over the reins from Hillary Clinton this afternoon when he is sworn in as the next Secretary of State.
Per his request, the oath will be administered by U. S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan at a private ceremony later this afternoon.
As Kerry is sworn in, Clinton will head into retirement after logging nearly one million miles of travel during her tenure in the position. She visited 112 countries and attended 1700 meeting with world leaders.
Clinton recently announced that during her retirement, she plans to write another memoir. This one will focus on her stint as the secretary of state.
