White House announces First Lady's guests for State of the Union

WASHINGTON D.C. (WXYZ) - The White House has announced its first round of guests to sit in the First Lady's Box at Tuesday's State of the Union address.

Two of the guests, Carlos Arredondo and Jeff Bauman, made headlines when a picture was taken of Arredondo rushing a badly injured Bauman away in a wheelchair after the Boston bombing.

Bauman also played a key role in identifying the two men responsible for the bombing.

Other guests include Gary Bird, the Fire Chief in Moore, Okla. during the deadly tornadoes last spring, Jason Collins who was the first male player in major American sports to come out as openly gay, Joey Hudy, a 16-year-old intern at Intel and Kathy Hollowell-Makle, the 2013 District of Columbia Public School's Teacher of the Year.

The guests will sit with First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden and Senior Advisor to the President - Valerie Jarrett.
