New app saves Snapchat videos and photos to camera roll

(WXYZ) - Snapchat users, beware.

A new app could jeopardize the temporary feature of the popular video and photo sharing app.

SnapHack is a 99 cent app for iOS devices that will save those Snapchat photos and videos into your camera roll.

As reported on Business Insider, when you receive a new Snapchat, all users have to do is open SnapHack and it will grab the unopened items in the cue and save them to their phone without notifying the other user.

Normally, when users try to take a screen grab of a Snapchat before it disappears, the sender is notified. But this new app lets people fly under the radar.

Most of the content shared between friends on Snapchat is harmless, but some have used the temporary nature of the app to send innappropriate images of themselves. Now, with SnapHack, that content can now be saved indefinitely.

The app's description on iTunes says that SnapHack is in no way affiliated with Snapchat.

Additionally, Snapchat's official blog said this week that they do sometimes turn over unopened Snaps to law enforcement if there is a search warrant out for that content.

Since may 2013, Snapchat says they have given a dozen unopened snaps to officials.

That's 12 out of 350 million that are sent every day.
