There is a new effort to bring justice to crimes against the LGBTQ community.

It's being spearheaded by the Fair Michigan Justice Project. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and the Detroit Police Department will also support their efforts.

The Fair Michigan Justice Project began their work last August with one of their first cases: the murder of Amber Monroe.

She was a well-known LGBTQ activist who was shot and killed in August of 2015.

Seven action news reported on her death extensively. The unsolved case was also the focus of a Detroit's Most Wanted.

Tuesday, the organization is expected to announce a partnership to investigate and prosecute new and cold cases with LGBTQ victims.
