A new option for parents looking to balance work-life and family life is coming to the Bagley neighborhood near Marygrove College.

The idea behind the all-new Detroit Parent Collective is to cater to parents who need both work space and built-in childcare.

Krista McClure, the mind behind Detroit Parent Collective, has recently finished up overhauling a building that will house a mixture of office space, child care rooms, and a pre-school modeled off of the Montessori curriculum.

A rotating number of parents and volunteers will be paired up with a PhD master teacher who formerly worked at the nearby Marygrove College.

“We are going to be providing premiere service,” said Jann Hoge, the teacher. “We are really building a family here, a true neighborhood collective.”

DPC is launching this week. It’s Detroit’s first co-working space with built-in childcare.
