DETROIT (WXYZ) — A new restaurant and brewery are heading to Detroit's Midtown neighborhood with the expectation that they will open in the fall. Smith & Co. will open at 644 Selden St. between 2nd and 3rd avenues in September.

According to a press release, the new restaurant will have a menu that focuses on the cultural blend that makes Detroit unique, with local ingredients and a Detroit vibe.

Smith & Co. will be a casual dining restaurant and open every day for dinner, with lunch on Saturdays and Sundays with brunch specials.

The news release also said that craft beer will be part of the new restaurant, featuring Nain Rouge Brewery and a hidden draft list featuring hard-to-find selections from other small, Michigan brewers.

The brewery is also expected to open in the coming months adjacent to Smith & Co., and the two will share a patio with beer sold exclusively at the restaurant, the release said.

Smith & Co.'s location will be in a building that was built in 1917 and the family-owned business Smith Welding Supply & Equipment Company operated there until 2007. The restaurant said it will maintain components from the original building, and a design group worked to encompass Michigan's natural beauty with urban elements in the 7,000-square-foot facility.

It's expected the restaurant will seat around 160 in the dining area, plus a concrete bar with seats for 19 people. They will share a courtyard with the Nain Rouge Brewery and another business, Barcade.

The restaurant is developed and owned by Jon Carlson, Greb Lobdell and Chet Czaplicka, and will be run by General Manager Dave Mammal and Executive Chef Greg Antioho. Antioho came from Blue Tractor BBQ & Brewery and SavCo Hospitality.

They are looking for experienced restaurant workers to fill 75 jobs, and applicants can apply in person from Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, click here.
