OAK PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) — Police call it a crime that was caught on video. It shows a driver behind a hit-and-run who escaped the scene, but not before posing as an innocent bystander.

“She knew she hit someone and was acting like it wasn’t her,” says Det. Troy Taylor with Oak Park police.

Authorities say it was at the intersection of 10 Mile Road and Greenfield that the unknown driver struck the victim crossing the street.

From there, a bizarre twist unfolded as the driver allegedly pretended she was just trying to help, without giving her own name. Police are currently searching for that female driver of a dark colored Buick Regal.

We’ve also learned the victim in this case did survive with non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information about the incident, which happened in September, is urged to call Oak Park police.
