A flooding problem in part of Oakland County has homeowners furious and reaching out to 7 Action News for help.

Residents are calling out the road commission for an ongoing flooding problem.

When it rains, it pours here on Forest Avenue in the heart of Waterford. Cell phone video shot by Dean Campbell is just latest in a river of evidence supporting the need for a solution.

"Every time it rains substantially this place is flooded out for four to five days," Campbell said.

It turns out the cause of all the trouble are catch basins that can only store so much and don't empty into any type of sewer, or even the nearby lake.

The result for months isn't just aggravating for nearby dog walkers, but some also feel it's a safety issue.

“Down by our place there’s a drain out front and two rivers were going down our lot,” Campbell said.

Action News reached out to the Oakland County Road Commission to get some results. They say they're planning to come out in a week or so and dig a deeper hole that'll prevent further problems.

“It’s not cheap," said Craig Bryson, a road commission spokesman. "But we are going to do all the work with our own staff. So, we don’t have to bring in a contractor. We’ve got the equipment to do it.”
